Temple (nameless) Cake

3/4 cup shortening

3/4 tsp. nutmeg
|
1 1/2 cup sugar
|
1 tsp cinnamon
|
3 eggs
|
2 Tblsp cocoa
|
1 3/4 cup flower
|
3/4 cup sour milk
|
1/2 tsp baking powder
|
1 tsp vanilla
|
1/2 tsp baking soda
|
1 tsp lemon extract
|
1/2 tsp salt
|
1/2 cup chopped nuts
|
Cream shortening, add sugar gradually, cream thouroughly.
Blend in 3 well beaten eggs. Sift flower, baking powder, soda,
salt/spices and cocoa and add to creamed mixture; alternatively with sour
milk. Blend in flavorings and nuts. Bake 30 mintutes at 350 degrees
F.
Icing
6 Tbl. Butter

1 1/2 Tbl. Cocoa
|
1 Egg Yolk
|
1 tsp. Cinnamon
|
3 Cups Powdered Sugar
|
1 1/2 Tbl. Hot Coffee
|
Cream butter and blend in egg yolk. Sift sugar, cocoa and cinnamon
into creamed mixture alternatively with coffee. If necessary, add a
few more drops of coffee.
